Responding!

Addison is responding now to her name! Last night at the dinner table Sam and I alternated saying Addy and she would turn to us as we said her name. She didn't look up when we said other names... So cute and exciting!!! Another milestone for our beautiful little girl!

Radio Silence

It's hard to keep up with the blogging, but I think it's definitely worthwhile, so I shall continue as much as I can.

Addison turned 5 months today. Is that possible? Daddy finished his EMT class - yay! And it was 12/12/12. Addy may live to see the next 12/12/12, she would be 100 - or 99? Too much thought for this time of night.

A few updates:
Addison's first boy cousin was born on 12/8. He is a whole 4 days old. Addison met him before he was even 1 day old. He is super cute and hairy and resembles a little old man.
Addison can now hold a sitting position for around 15 seconds at a time, mommy is proud.
We attended the Shriners Christmas party a couple weekends ago and Addison got all dressed up for her first Christmas.
Also, Addison had her first ear infection :(. She has been on amoxicillin for over a week now and the infection is all cleared up!

Mommy is falling asleep, so that is all for now!

Snug as a Bug

Addy is super adorable in her new car seat that Nana got for her! She also loves the handmade car seat blanket from Auntie April. We are off to Western Pleasure Guest Ranch for the Shriners Xmas party. Fun!

Thanksgiving, short, but sweet

Amidst the moving and hectic schedule, we escaped for the eve and day of Thanksgiving out to MT to the Cornett "homestead". We were blessed to spend Thanksgiving with Sam's Uncle Mark and his fiancé Nancy along with Gma and D-dad. I think Addison would have been happier if she had gotten her hands on some mashed potatoes (like cousin Sarah), but she still enjoyed her Thanksgiving nonetheless.

Addison's great Uncle Mark just won an award for the Beas blues bassist of the Inland Empire Blues Society, and sI am sure she would have nominated him too! Addison spent much of the evening watching G Uncle Mark and Daddy as they played guitars and just enjoyed every second of it.

As usual Gma adorned the table with delicious Thanksgiving delights and I contributed by making Phillips style deviled eggs. I didn't get the eggs prepared until almost time for dinner so only about half were eaten by the end of dinner. When I went to bed around 10, there were close the same number remaining. Much to my dismay, when I woke in the morning... Around 9, there was not an ounce of deviled egg remaining. I am thankful that the Cornett family enjoys a bit of Phillips cooking!

Baby's are tough

This morning Addison woke up at 4am. I attempted to return her to her slumber for.two.hours. Maybe I have been lucky, but, typically she goes back to sleep fairly quickly. By 6am, I asked Sam what he would do. He took a large blanket off the bed, placed it on the floor, put Addison on it and came back to bed himself.

Note: we cosleep, so she was in bed with us before this.

Addison, wide awake, played until she fell asleep! Wow. There are few and far between times she falls asleep on her own. Nice job Sam!

I returned to my own slumber to drem of Addison crawling and walking on her own. I am not ready for that yet!

Chicago here we come!

Off to Chicago for work training. I wasn't able to attend training this summer bc it was in CA and I couldn't fly 9 mths prego. So, I get to go to a different training in Chicago this week. Pretty excited for the training, but sooo hard leaving behind my beautiful family. My mom is taking care of Addison the next two nights and wish Sam luck in the overnight feedings! It's no easy task taking care of an Addy in the middle of the night.

First snow

How can you not love that little face??! I am one proud mama. Addison is getting stronger by the day and has no problem keeping her head up to peer at the world. She assumes this position as she watches mommy & daddy pack an ready for the upcoming move.

We also got her a wanna be Bumbo, so she can sit upright. She is so cute staring at the world from an upright position.

Today was her very first day of snow. Daddy took a video of her looking out the window mystified by the white blanket covering the once green and brown foliage. Hopefully I can get a link up to the video soon!

In other milestones, she rolled from her back to her front on Wednesday, and she is started to really try to scoot along. Crawling is closer than we think!

Sickie

Family has been battling a cold the last few days. Poor Sam sounds like a little girl :P.

Between trying to get the house finished, packing, trying to keep up school/work, and taking care of our little one, I think Sam and I have been struggling to figure out what to do when we do get a second of
downtime. See below for Sam's favorite downtime activity - pocket planes on his iPhone in bed. (Sam has respectfully requested that I remove the pic - fail.) Me, it's been shop and swap. There is this super duper awesome group on FB called CDA shopandswap. It is set up like Craigslist: people within the area post pics of items they want to sell or trade. The best part though is that it is a stream of items you didn't even know you needed! ;). It's addicting, so be careful! We have sold a number of items on there as we try to consolidate and move. Unfortunately (for Sam) we seem to buy as much as we sell. Today, we picked up a imitation Bumbo...

Oh, and did I mention Addison is now rolling over regularly?

First Halloween!

Unfortunately, Daddy had to be in class doing his midterm test, but we enjoyed Halloween nonetheless. Addison was able to spend her first Halloween with cousin Lizzie, Auntie April, Uncle Richard, and Nana. She dressed up as a puppy and was quite adorable. We traversed the EWU campus in our new jogging stroller and Addison was as happy as could be, of course, until she got hungry and Mommy wouldn't let her eat the candy!

Oh it is coming!

Addison just rolled over!! I left her on her tummy and I came back to her in her back! Haven't actually seen her do it yet, but I am sure that will come. Yesterday, I left her on the ottoman and returned to see her head off the edge, eeeck! She has been scooting herself around, the little punk! Oh, and did I mention she started drinking apple juice?? Just kidding. :)

So big so fast!!

Addison is growing like a weed! I can tell just by trying to hold her up. She is getting heavier by the day. I think that is why she has started to take good naps, you have to sleep to grow, right?

And Cherish the Moments, We Did!

Addison laughed for the first time today! Nana got her to laugh! :)

The many faces of Addison in the Morn

Yesterday was October 15th, and because of the busy day, I didn't get to see my daughter awake, at all. :(. Today, every moment will be cherished.

Stress & Time

Oh babies - they are beautiful and incredible and wow, they change your life.  I think the biggest difference in our lives is that now instead of two people each being able to contribute to whatever goal we have in mind, only one is typically able to participate while the other is taking care of this beautiful child (aka "black hold of need").  Don't get me wrong, she is absolutely incredible, but I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't mind an occasional break.  It's tough.  What I have to remember is that Addison is one of our goals.  Every minute we spend engaging with her, feeding her, caring for her, is contributing to her future.  To this wonderful child that we have brought into the world.  She is and forever will be absolutely precious.  Each moment with her is precious and the time that she is this size, where she has so many needs, is incredibly precious.

We are moving next month to Spokane.  Which is great, minus all the work that moving includes.  Not only are we trying to move, but we also are trying to finish up about 12 million little tiny projects in our place so that it is really nice for our new tenants - aka the Awesome Oppligers :).  Tomorrow, my fab sister, April, is coming to watch after Addison while Sam and I work as quickly and as hard as possible to get all those little things done around the house.  I am so thankful for each person who is willing to give us a hand and give my daughter the attention she deserves while we try to get everything done.  I will have to make a list of everything we get done tomorrow so that I can feel accomplished!

Today, we made a lot of progress on the move and we got to spend the evening with my parents and April.  It was quite a nice time.  Sam and I really enjoyed the time with my family and I am so thankful that we have the kind of family that we can enjoy so much of.  Today we celebrated my Dad's big 5-0.  I think he's young, but I'm not sure how he feels about that :).  We celebrated by having a "picnic" like we used to do in S. California when we were kids.  Complete with crossoint sandwiches and topped off with German Chocolate Cake.  Thank you Dad for having a birthday and thank you Mom for a delicious cake!

Woes of a new mom

Can someone please explain to me why it is not required to have a changing station in, at the very least, the women's bathroom? It's really not about the diaper change - have you ever tried to hold a baby while you unbuckle and unzip your pants?? Mind you, as a new mom, you don't exactly have a lot of patience when you need to use the restroom because you don't have the biggest bladder. This just complicates the situation!

In this dilemma, you can see the results below.

Tuesday afternoon and we all have been going hard. Time for a catnap.

Overstimulated baby

Addison has barely slept all day. I think that the air compressor and chop saw might have had something to do with it. We have successfully installed the trim in the dining room and kitchen today. It is looking amazing!! Now a little family time, playing catch phrase with mom and d-dad.

Also, happy 50th to my dad!

First day of daycare today :(

Addy had her first day of daycare today. We have decided that on the one day each week that Sam's school and my work overlap we will have Addison cared for by a lady that takes care of a few children at a time out of her home. The lady is truly incredible, playing with the children all day - doing puzzles, reading, listening to music, etc. I think it was harder for Sam to leave her there than it was for me. Granted, I have been working 3 days a week for the past month. I am sure once he gets home he will be very excited to see her.
